This year at Computech has been great. Although we get a lot oh homework and we are not able to dress how we like, it is a great school. Some people say that this school is hard. Well it kind of is, but you can't get a bad grade in a class unless you do not turn in your homework. My best experience in Computech was when we came to school, and all the starts where on the walls with our name. I thought that was very special and nice. Not every school puts the name of their like a 1,000 students for just fun. It was cool seeing everyone's name on the walls in the campus. The fun part was going around the school looking for your name. You would find people that you knew on the wall.
My worst experience here at Computech would have to be after we cam back from the zoo. I mean the zoo day was fun, but I was hungry and tired. The worst part was that some people did not get actual lunch. For example, I did not. Do you want to know what I got? I got breakfast for lunch. I had a peanut butter and jelly cracker and milk. Wow, that sure filled my tummy. I was still hungry during school and I hated it. I was also tired and my feet really hurt. Then we had to do those responses. Anyway the zoo day was a great experience, but when we cam back it was not.
I have a had both bad and good days here at Computech. The best thing though is that I have learned a lot. There are millions of things that I did not know. Now I know them. There were questions I could not answer to myself or to anyone else. Now I know the answers to those questions. I took Algebra too, so that makes me feel even smarter.
I am very proud of myself, and I know that my family is too. I have gotten straight As all throughout the year. I have been a good student here. So , I hope that the teachers are proud of me too.
My favorite station was the one next to the Sea Lion Cove. That station was the best one that we went to. I liked it a lot because it gave us some thing interesting thing to do. In that station we had to do three things. We had to compare the temperatures of three different kinds of material in ice-cold water. Their was a plain plastic bag, a plastic bag with something inside it , and then a bag with hair in it. There were thermometers for us to check the temperature of the different kind of stuff in the water.
Anyway, the plastic bag with out anything in it was suppose to represent an animal that has no fur. The second bag contained a blubbery kind of substance ( I think it was pudding) that was suppose to represent how warm it is for animal that had a lot of animal fat. The third bag had a lot of hair in it. That was suppose to represent an animal with fur in cold water temperatures. So, we put our hands in it and set the bag in the cold water. We felt how it feels to have all those kinds of things as an animal. We experienced that in cold temperatures like those it is very good to have fur and body fat to warm you.
The Columbian Exchange was a time where everything was being traded. The new World was trading things with the Old world. This was a time that was both good and bad at the same time. There are many reasons why this time was bad and good. Although people started communicating with each other, and things that other people did not have was being traded, there were a couple of bad things that were involved for everyone.
The goods things were mainly food, new items, knowledge, trade, and communication. People all over the world were trading things with each other. People were able to get what they did not have in their areas. So the produce of different places were being brought to other new places. Merchants traded food such as onions, mangos, potatoes, tomatoes, and other different kinds of fruit and vegetables. Other new items were being traded all over, including knowledge. People even traded ideas and sometimes religion. This caused everyone to be somehow connected. Thier was a lot of communication throughout many countries and cities.
There were a few bad things about the Columbian Exchange. Slaves and disease were also being passed around. Diseases that were carried in food or in other items were being caught by those that bought those items or those that were near them. Some people even brought them in them. Slaves were also a problem. Those poor slaves were being hurt and worked a lot. These are both good things and bad things about the exchange.
The Inca Empire fall was a lot like the Aztec Empire's fall. This was shown in the ways both empires fell. It was very alike because in their times they both were going through hard times. Both of the empires were having both internal and external problems. The thing is they were not destroyed by their own people, but from the Spaniards. This two great empires fell drastically because of so many problems. Those problems got out of hand and made them come to their end.
Both of these empires were going through internal problems with their own people arrived, that was a very bad thing. Also both of the Spaniard leaders came to the empires wihtout anyone knowing what would happen later, because the natives did not know their language nor who they were. Later though both of their kings were captured and killed. So without their leaders or emperors the empires soon were in chaos. Another of the Spaniards adventage was that they had guns and horses.
Since these empires did not have these kinds of things yet, for them their was going to battle lost. One other thing that contributed to both the empires fall was disease. It weakend the people.
This year has been a very great and memorable year for me. It has been stressing and very hard but, it really has been remarkable. I have so many great memories for this year, so it is hard for me to choose only one. There is now one thing that stands out against all my other memories. It is a little weird, creepy, and a little nasty, but when our teacher said it was just simply hilarious. This happened in Mrs. Baird's room one morning for our humor of the day.
As we were walking in I noticed Mrs. Baird kept smiling, then I noticed that were not going to be doing humor of the day on the computer so it must be some kind of written joke, or a story. So, everything was as usual and then when it came to our humor everything changed. Mrs. Baird was going to read us different kinds of poopies. That was very funny, it was probably the funniest humor of the day that week or month. I will not describe what Mrs. Baird said about each one, but it was funny. Historians have many theories regarding the collapse of the Mayan Civilization. They are not sure which one is the cause of such a great civilization to collapse. I think that this civilization collapsed not just because of one thing , but because of a combination of things. In my opinion I think they collapsed because of over-population. As a result of so much people in that civilization other problems could have occurred. One thing I have learned about history that has happened to most of the places and empires that I have learned in school is that once a great civilization reaches its peak it gets over-populated.
Once there are too many people things get out of control and then later their whole civilization collapses. So, in this case I think that the Mayan Civilization collapsed because of being over-populated. Some of the problems that could have occurred with this main problem are as follow: not sufficient food supplies, water , rebelliance between inside cities, and wars for power or land. The Mayan civilization was very remarkable but just as it came it left. The Mayan civilization did many things that were very advanced at that time, and it is still remembered today as a great empire, too bad it had to collapse so fast.
I am a hunter-gatherer in North America. I have spent all my life moving from one place to another trying to find a herd of animals so that I can feed both my family and myself. Today though my family and I found a place that was much warmer than the usual places we go by, and another advantage was that we can't always find a variety of plants to eat. So when we got to this place their was a great variety of plants. That is very good news because when we just go on moving from place to place we never know if we will find enough food for everyone or not. Anyways, some people think this a great place to settle down in, but others prefer to continue in their usual ways. The problem is we all have to decide whether we want to leave or stay.
The choice was difficult to make because we still do not know if this will work. If it does work we will be fine, but if it doesn't we will be separated form the rest of the group. My family has decided to try this new form of living, and none of our family members are willing to leave without us. Our choice was to settle down. We all think this will be a great idea. This way we can lean to grow crops, that we are able to harvest and eat. This also great because now we do not have to travel long distances to get food or water. I have read more than 25 books this year, but there is one that made me value my family and what I have. It is called,"Chicken Soup for the Preteen Soul." It was about 101 stories about situations from personal experiences. Like how people felt when they lost a loved one, how it felt to start going to middle school or highschool, how it feels to have someone in your family that has cancer, but the best were how to live life to the fullest and to see how much things are important to you. This book helped me see all the good things in life.
When I read some stories, I almost cried because they were so sad. It made me think about what I have, and know that it will not always be there. So I have to value it and live my life to the fullest as if there was no tomorrow. I really do love my family a lot, and sometimes, I get so nervous when I do not see them for a long period of time. It makes me want to cry just thinking that maybe tomorrow I won't be able to see them. I am very close to my family, therefore when I am not around them I always feel awkward.
Anyway that was my favorite book, it taught me more than I have ever learned. Other people's bitter experiences made me feel what they did. Also, this helped me see how I should go through situations like theirs and for me to know ,and so many other people that go through those situation that they are not alone. Other people have gone through that, and though there are hard times you have to be strong and very brave. That will be the only way to go through those bitter times. I say that after every bitter taste there will always be a sweet taste or reminder later, because after rain and storm there is always rainbows and the bright rays of the sun once again coming out. In conclusion, make everything you do be the best, love your family and friends like you will never see them again, and finally live your life to the fullest like there is no tomorrow. Always make everything in your life be great because there are no second chances and you only have one shot in this world. You only have one life and that is the only one that you will ever get, so make it special.
The Scientific Revolution was important to world history because it was technically the base of our modern science today and because it had difficulties between the church. The church had problems with some people that had their own views and discoveries of science and those problems resulted into religious problems. One example for that was Galileo's ideas about the universe revolving around the Sun and not the earth. He was put to trial for his idea and for being a heretic. Some people interpreted his ideas wrong and said that he was going against the Bible's ideas. He was going to be killed, but he wasn't killed because the Pope was "his friend" and so he was just put to house arrest.
The scientific revolution was also important in world history because it changed the way we thought about the world and nature around us. It made us ask more questions. Some people used to believe everything other people and the church said, without even trying it themselves. They just thought that those people were right. Therefore, they did not rise any questions. Other people did start rising questions, they also tried to try to prove if the things other people said were true. People started asking about how the world worked and why it worked that way. The Science Revolution helped us know what we know about the world and nature. As a result, we started to know that the earth did orbit the sun and so did all the other planets, the scientific method was created, and finally people were expiramenting. It is very good that the scientific revolution occured in the past.
There are not many things in school that I would like changed. The ones I do, can really affect students in our school and maybe in other school, too. My first theses is for giving us more time to do our work for some classes. For example in Computer I would really like to have more time to our assignments. The main reason is because sometimes we have so many things to do in these classes and then we only have a very little time limit to get them done and to turn them in. My second these would be to get less homework. I think all students should only have about one hour of homework or less. That would really help some of is to get good sleep, and get a chance to actually eat good without having to finish your dinner all fast because you have a lot of homework and the you will not get done.Sometimes we get so much homework that you sleep late and then when it is already 11:00 at night and you are still doing your homework you do not learn the same. You get distracted, just waiting to see when you will finish and be able to sleep.
My third these would be to give us more time on break. This theses has its reasons. For one the girl's bathroom in always full and sometimes we do not get the chance to go the restroom. So then we have to wait until our class ends so that we can go during the 5 minutes. That can be risky because you can be late to your next class if you do not hurry. My fourth these would be not getting homework over the weekend. The weekend is the only actual time that we have to rest and relax a lot, but if we get homework that makes us get less of our rest. School can be tiring sometimes and more when you have to do things for school everyday and you will not live your life. Some teachers already do that, but most teachers do give homework regularly on weekend sometimes.
My fifth theses would be to have more choices for lunch. It does not always good to eat the food every week that you did last week. There should be more varieties so that more kids will get lunch. This can be good for the school and for the kids. It does get kind of boring to eat the same things over and over.
